ZZZZZzzzzzzzz......

When I took Gage to his 4 month appointment, the Doctor asked me how many times a night Gage nurses. I said, "He is up every 2-4 hours." She said, "Oh. There is no reason why he shouldn't be sleeping 6-8 hours at a time. This is just a habit by now and you need to break it by letting him cry it out for 2 nights. On the 3rd night, he'll sleep." When I asked how long he should cry for, she said, "About an hour or so." Needless to say, I wAs sHockEd! There was no way I was letting my baby cry for more than 5 minutes! Lakin started sleeping through the night at 4 months and he will too!

Fast forward to a month later........Gage is still sleeping only a few hours at a time.

So last weekend, I gave Gage 2 ounces of breastmilk and 2 ounces of formula at bedtime, he slept for 7 hours straight! Now I thought, if only I could get through 1 more night, he will be sleeping like a log. So the next night, I did the same thing at our usual 7:30 bedtime and the next thing I know, I wake up and its 5:30! I listen for the "ticking" on my monitor (YES, I have one of those annoying Angelcare ticking monitors but at least it gives us a peace of mind, that his is still breathing) and hear nothing. I look over and the monitor is turned off! I run to his room and there he is. Laying on his belly, eyes closed, moaning, "Hmmmm, Hmmmm, Hmmmm." Boy, did I feel horrible! I picked him up and he nursed like there was no tomorrow!

I will never know how long he cried but are you ready for the good part.....2 nights in a row....he has slept 11 hours straight!! I can only pray that this pattern continues!
