H2O

My only hope is that everyone (who is below 450 elevation) is working hard "just in case" and will be moving back in next week after the river goes back down. Our home is at 445 (approx) and my parents are at 441 (approx). We sat on my front porch tonight and every 3rd truck either had items loaded in the truck or pulling trailers full of personal items. We could see a neighbor moving out too. The next 2 days, teachers/students are clearing out classrooms and moving things to higher ground. At my section of the school, everything has to be above 4 foot. School and Prom have been cancelled Thursday, Friday and Monday. Our family spent all day Sunday sandbagging at the Beardstown Public Works building. Talk about an awesome community coming together! Lots of volunteers are working day and night to spot boils on the levees which have to be quickly taken care of with sandbags. In the 2nd picture below, you can see that the city has painted telephone poles (see orange spray paint on pole) around town to show residents the water levels if the levee breaks in town. At the intersection in the picture, water levels would be at 7'5".
Mark is helping by taking shifts for the 24 hour river levee watch. I am moving a few things out of my basement...as in a lifetimes worth of photos. Lakin is getting excited about her birthday Wednesday, worried about water levels and sad Fun City party is cancelled. Gage is a pooping machine with not a worry in the world! :) A week ago he was scared to death to poop in the potty and begging for a pull-up everytime he had to go. After 3 full days of being "full of it", he finally went and loved it. Now, we are worried he is going to hurt himself because he is pooping up to 4 times a day! He laughs while listening to the "plops and drops". It feels good to have something to laugh about this week :)
Planning for the worst, praying for the best!
