Bobby Goes for a Ride

I haven't written in a while as I have been trying to sleeping during the day while Gage sleeps. Its not so much as he is up all night (still nursing every 2 hours) but he acts colicky for about 2 hours every night before bedtime. Sometimes screaming and so upset for 4 hours. There is nothing I can do to calm him down and it is only at night. And it hasn't helped that Mark is in New Orleans for work this week touring his works' exporting facilities and of course they just so happen to be staying on Bourbon street during St. Patrick’s Day. Anyway, Lakin reminded me of an incident that happened a while ago to the Boy Bobby, yes sometimes the Girl Bobbi comes to play. I thought I'd share this little story with you...

I am putting away laundry in our bedroom on a Saturday morning and Lakin yells, "AHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" I run into the bathroom to see what in the hell is going on. I'm thinking that she messed with the temperature and got burned or maybe fell and hurt herself. But no. She looks perfectly fine but is hysterical! I ask what happened and she says, "Bobby went down the drain!" Well, what do I say to that? After I get her out of the shower and calmed down, I tell her that maybe Bobby went to another house to live (thinking that maybe this is her way of letting go of Bobby). I felt that she was ok with this explanation and we went on with the morning.

2 hours later

I hear the front door open and close and Lakin yells, “Bobby!!!! I’m so glad you are ok!” and the door closes. I go into the dining room to find Lakin with the biggest smile on her face, looking like she just found her long lost love. I asked how she knew to open the door and she said, “Didn’t you hear the doorbell ring?” So I go on to ask how he got out of the drain and she responded, “He told me that it was like a long, wet, waterslide and he ended up in the street in those hole things on the side of the road. That is when he saw our house and came to ring the doorbell so I could let him in.”

Sometimes, I think about this movie I once watched called Drop Dead Fred and I see Bobby causing a lot of trouble in Lakin’s future. Maybe even as an adult!
