The Birth Weight Story

They took Gage around midnight for his first "assessment" and came in to tell Mark and I that everything looked great and he was down to 8lbs 10oz from his original birth weight. We looked at each other with a bit of confusion. When the nurse came back in we talked with her about it and they were thinking he weighed 8lbs 12oz at birth and had lost 2oz at his first assessment (which is normal). After much debate it was decided that he was indeed 8lbs 12oz at birth and the scale in our delivery room was inaccurate. So his "actual unofficial" birth weight is 8lbs 12oz (too long of a process to change the birth certificate which was completed before this was all figured out). So every nurse that came in the room during our stay said, "Oh I've heard about Gage's weight and can't believe this happened!"
